This project focused on transforming our client’s existing home into a long-term, functional “forever” home, meeting their need for more space while staying true to the property’s heritage.
A new single-storey oak extension was added to the rear of the house, replacing an outdated conservatory with a bright and welcoming sunroom. The ground floor layout was reconfigured to create a spacious, open-plan kitchen and dining area, making it ideal for both everyday living and entertaining. On the upper floor, the existing roof was raised to transform a loft room into a standard-sized bedroom, improving the home’s overall functionality. Additionally, the kitchen was extended to further enhance its size and allow for a balcony above to complement the newly created bedroom.
As the property is part of the arts and crafts movement and reflects Edwardian architecture, the alterations and additions were designed to be in keeping and enhance the original building and allow more modern use of the spaces.
