The use of sustainable timber is a highly viable option for a building material, and in fact it has the lowest embodied energy of any mainstream construction material. Highly durable, well made timber structures can last centuries and compared to its alternatives it is inexpensive and easy to maintain. Timber frames are being used more frequently in this day and age.

As designers, we see an opportunity to make a positive and responsible contribution to our planet through the spaces that we create. We recognise the importance of sustainability and the prominence of climate change that we currently face; we take a close look at the design and buildability of a project in its early stages in order to assess our design strategy and achieve minimal impact on the environment. The choice in materials used and how they are sourced is always a factor that needs consideration in the design phase.
