We are Studio Zed, a team of passionate professionals dedicated to delivering architectural projects throughout the South-West and beyond. We prioritise our clients’ needs, the practical aspects of each project, and its build-ability to create tailored designs that lead to successful outcomes.
Our team consists of architects and technologists, as well as planners, timber frame design specialists and structural engineers, allowing us to provide the key design team members under one roof.
To us, each project is personal. We work together with our clients, being flexible in our approach, and maintaining high levels of communication and transparency throughout the process.
We collaborate with local contractors and have built reliable relationships over the years. This enables us to help our clients obtain trusted quotations from skilled professionals, doing what we can to ensure a successful journey from inception to completion.

Meet The Team
Zander Wheeler
Co-founder, Senior Architectural Technician, and Designer
Zander is the co-founder and person at the helm of Studio Zed Architectural Services. With many years’ experience within the architecture and construction industry, he has built the company from the ground up through his passion for residential architecture and working directly with clients. As an associate member of The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), he believes that understanding the practicalities of construction is key to a successful project and design.
Andrew Best
Co-founder, Building Technologist
Andy is the joint co-founder of Studio Zed Architectural Services and building technologist. He has worked in the construction industry for over 35 years, 16 of those as a skilled carpenter and joiner. Andrew has a wealth of knowledge in the construction industry and the built environment. He is also director and partner of our sister company Structural Timber Design Services Ltd, where he is a specialist in timber frame design and construction.
Matthew Cox
Architect
Matt is an Architect dedicated to human-centred design, passionate about creating environments that foster comfort, wellness, and connection to nature. He explores innovative ways to harmonise built environments with the people who live, work, and thrive in them. With years of experience across diverse sectors and projects, from community leisure facilities to pharmaceutical research laboratories, Matt has transformed his lifelong interest in Architecture into deep understanding and practical expertise.
Callum Swift
Architect
Callum is an Architect with experience in a range of projects; from small residential projects and high-end Passivhaus retrofits, to large scale sustainably driven commercial developments. He is driven by a passion for creating meaningful spaces that enhance quality of life, and values human connectivity with nature. He believes in utilising participatory processes to reflect the user’s needs and aspirations. This user-driven approach allows clients to lead with his guidance, resulting in innovative and personal projects.
Ed Flood
Planning Consultant
Ed, a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, has over 10 years’ private sector experience. He has led and advised on planning issues ranging from small residential schemes to nationally significant infrastructure projects. Ed has presented proposals at Planning Committees, Parish Council meetings, and represented clients in pre-application meetings, public exhibitions, and community forums. He enjoys collaborating with statutory consultees to deliver successful outcomes for clients.
Winifred
Wellbeing Officer
Winnie is our company lead on wellbeing, she brings an abundance of cuddly cheerfulness to the workplace, and quickly became an integral member of the team from day one.
Studs
Structural Timber Design Services is a sister company to Studio Zed and part of the same family: structural engineers, timber frame design specialists, and a Timber Development UK member.
